These days, finding a good quality piano course for beginners isn't a hard task. To get started you just need to have a computer or laptop with a good internet connection and preferably a webcam. You simply need to check online and type in a few keywords, like 'piano courses for beginners'. A simple click will yield thousands of results related to your search.
There are various online piano courses offered for free. If you're willing to pay for better quality tuition, a lot of high-quality courses can be downloaded easily and then installed to your computer in an instant. Some of these are as cheap as US $40 and are well worth the investment. A home based study course allows you to practice at your own convenience anywhere you want, without worrying about distractions. It is also advisable to choose courses offering money-back guarantees, in case your expectations are not met by the piano course you buy.
Knowing the package which comes with the particular course you want to take is also very important. It is of great advantage to you if the course provides piano pieces in mp3 format, and video and audio demonstrations, which will aid you in easily grasping different finger exercises. If you decide to take up an online piano course for beginners, some courses offer the chance to listen and observe your piano instructor through your web cam. This is also the future of private one on one tuition
A suitable piano course ideally has group and forum discussions where each student is given an opportunity to ask questions of their instructor whenever they feel uncertain about their lesson. It's also very important for the student and teacher to have open communication to be able to solve every problem encountered during the entire piano course.
Piano lessons for beginners shouldn't be filled with confusing and complex finger lessons. This will just frustrate the student causing them lose interest in the lesson. Details must initially focus on the music's essential elements and its basics. This will enable the learners to get a good grasp of piano playing.
In an ideal piano course, there must be lessons that teach ways to develop a good ear for recognizing tones and also to learn chord construction and scales along with solid music theory. It must also aim to bring out the imaginative and creative side of each piano student.
There are a number of piano courses available out there. You need to thoroughly do your research and identify the best piano course which you feel is suitable for you. Choosing the best one for you is not as simple as picking the first one you happen to stumble upon. You need to be patient in browsing various piano lessons offered online and the different benefits they offer.

Does yelling help while teaching?
My 9 year old is required by her mom to practice piano for 45 min every day. On the weekends when I am home, I find the practice degenerate into yelling, crying with my little one protesting almost every other instruction my wife gives. According to my wife, it is part of the lesson. But I fail to see how ordering a kid to go over a piece 20 times if he makes a mistake will grow a love for piano in him. My common sense tells me that he would probably hate this lovely instrument one day. If I discuss this issue with my wife, we end up having a fight. I requested her to talk to other parents we know. She told me today, that they all said, it is okay to yell at the kids. This is the way it is supposed to be. If you give me reference to any work that talks about best practice in teaching musical instrument, I will really appreciate that.

Golf Tips for Beginners
Learning how to golf can be a difficult experience. I remember the first time I went out onto a course, and attempted to play. “How do they make it look so easy on T.V.?” I thought. Just completing the first hole was a huge challenge for me!
Although it can be intimidating at first, stick with it! Golf is fun, if you can keep in mind that it’s just a game. Keep these few tips for beginners in mind when starting out.
Tip for Beginner Golfers 1: Equipment
I know it is tempting to think, “I’ve got to have the best of the best clubs in order to be good!” The truth is, when you are just beginning to golf, the clubs you buy will probably not matter much. I suggest finding a used set from a friend or a cheap set of clubs from K-mart. No need to waste one thousand dollars on a nice set, when you may decide later that you don’t like golf very much. I started out with a set of my friend’s old clubs that I got for free; and when I started becoming more consistent with those clubs, I moved up to a nicer set.
The same goes for balls too. A lot of golfers will spend 40 dollars on a dozen Pro-V1’s, but when you are just starting out that is not necessary. Cheap used balls will do just fine. After four years of golf, I still score the same with a used dirty ball as I do with Pro-V1’s.
Tip for Beginner Golfers 2: Where to Start
For people that are really serious about becoming good golfers; get a lesson from your local golf pro. Even if it is just one lesson, the pro will be able to show you the proper way to swing the club.
Watch golf videos, and try to study the swing as much as possible. Practice swinging in your front yard. I know a teenage boy that just started playing less than a year ago, and he has an amazing swing, and a good game. He started practicing in his front yard about a year before actually stepping out onto the golf course. Now you don’t have to wait a year to go on the course; but the more practice you get before stepping out onto the course, the better you will be.
Go to the driving range a few times a week and hit a bucket of balls. Then once you feel confident enough at the range, try out a par-3 course. They are great for beginner golfers.
Tip for Beginner Golfers 3: Out on the course
Once you make it out to a regular eighteen hole course, keep in mind golf course etiquette. People behind you are not going to want to wait. Don’t rush, but if you are taking more than 10 strokes to get the ball in the hole, and people are waiting behind you, pick the ball up and move on. Remember to fix your ball marks (the “dent” in the green that is made when you hit your ball onto the green). Also replace your divots (the grass that is torn from the ground by your club when it is swung.)
Remember, golf is just a game. It may take a bit of patience at first, but once you learn it, you’ll be addicted!

How much would a beginners sailing course cost?
Hello,
In a couple of years time (when i finish uni) I want to do the clipper round the world yacht race. I don't have any sailing experience and want to start learning now as I need a hobby.
So how much would I be looking at for a course, i have been on the clipper site which does 7 day courses but had no mention of the price for them.
Thanks
xxxx
Competent crew i think it was called.
If you are at Uni, see if you have a Sailng Club associated with the Uni. When I was at Essex (MANY years ago!) we had an RYA training establishment that taught people to sail at the end of the summer term.
Otherwise, decide on whether its learning to sail (dinghies, feel the wind, get wet, cheaper) or learning about bigger boats (yachts, competent crew, coastal skipper, more expensive).
The RYA web site will have some pointers to the different training establishments. E.g.: http://www.berkshiresailing.co.uk/ this is just in the edge of Reading, inthe middle of the country, and will train on evening or weekend or week long courses - depending on what suits you.

Sales Lessons Learned From Watching the Apprentice
Watching the celebrity edition of the Apprentice on television proved to be far more than solely an entertaining experience.
Knowing in advance that Gene Simmons, the brains behind the KISS phenomenon and the self-proclaimed god of women, would take episodal charge over the female celebrity group, I could not resist watching. Frankly, I was somewhat surprised at what transpired during the hour. The Donald had no choice but to fire him. He failed at his task.
This reality show actually provided a healthy dose of business reality, demonstrating many valuable sales lessons that we can all benefit from.
1. Know Your Goal Before You Begin Taking Action.
Gene errantly delegated the initial responsibility of meeting with the client to two team members. If instead, everyone on his team, including himself, were present, he would have benefited from the perspectives of each as they moved towards satisfying their customer and the sales goal that they had in mind. The women who met with the Kodak executives failed to listen carefully and fully grasp the desired intent and goals of their customer.
Simmons, as their leader, never knew what his customer actually wanted as he was too busy constructing a campaign that he thought was important and relevant. He was too busy marketing Kodak that he failed to consider their desired goals and product emphasis, their new ink. In fact, he did not see the importance of meeting with his customer and clearly understanding their perspective and goals.
2. Understand Your Task.
We must listen and pay attention to our customers. They will tell us exactly what they want if we ask them. Ask clarifying questions until you are crystal clear on their goals. Gene neither had a grasp of their true task or even the name of the product. His project was doomed early on.
3. Listen Carefully to Those You Have Teamed With.
Your sales team is a valuable asset. Their thoughts, evaluations and conclusions are important and should be respected with regard to the decision-making process.
4. Keep Focused.
Once you have a clear understanding of your customers needs, adopt a laser-like focus until the job is done. If an activity is not relevant to the desired outcome, it is likely an activity that is hindering your progress. Stay on task.
5. Remember: The Customer is Always Right.
The customer expects us to work on his behalf. If we make assumptions and suppositions based upon our desires, they may not be in-sync with what our customer is expecting of us. Simmons ignored his customer altogether, focusing instead on his own ego and creative ideas. While his marketing was impressive, his strategy and sense of purpose were flawed. He continued acting upon what he wanted for himself, not the desires of his client.
It does not matter if we think we are smarter, better equipped or more experienced than our customer. If we lose sight of their business and what they want, we lose; period. "You cannot hit a target you cannot see". You cannot ask relevant questions if you do not listen. And... you cannot satisfy the needs of your customers if you do not know what they need.
Thanks Gene, these are indeed valuable lessons learned.

How much do you tell/prepare a child about sexual abuse, whose not ready to learn about sex?
There is a gap between little-tyke and pre-teen where children are much too young to be informed about sex, but at a peak age for predators. How much or how little did/do you tell them? What worked for you? What didn't? What would you change going forward about included information and discussion? Others here may benefit from best practices and lessons learned. I know I would.
With my nine year old (who knows more than I'm aware of because of the good ol bus) knows that it is inapproriate touching. I didn't have to go into the specifics of what it really is or why an adult would do that. He just knew that it was the wrong kind of touching that should happen between adult and child. NOT a fun subject:(

The Best Acoustic Guitar Course for Kids Ever
Last year, from out of the blue, my nine year old daughter informed me that she would like an acoustic guitar. Being a typical parent, my first question to myself was, "How much will this cost?" My second question was to her, "Will you actually learn play this guitar or will it end up collecting dust in your closet?" I had absolutely no idea how much a guitar would cost, or what type of guitar I should buy.
Aside from the expense involved, I never thought about how she would learn to play the guitar. I just assumed that someone we knew would know someone that gave lessons. Not that easy.
Every tutor recommended to us had no openings, even the guitar shop where we bought the guitar could not fit us in for four months. By the time summer rolled around we finally found a pretty good instructor, but he could only give lessons on Wednesdays at 10:30 in the morning, and only for 30 minutes.
Not only were the lessons expensive ($45.00 each time), but they weren't long enough and they were at a very inconvenient time. I soon decided that there had to be a better way.
I started looking for an acoustic guitar course for kids online and eventually came across a program called Jamorama that seemed like exactly what I was looking for. To say that I was impressed would be an incredible understatement.
It was so affordable that I was actually angry with myself for not going online and finding it sooner. The entire Jamorama program cost less than one lesson with the private tutor. Not only did it cost less, but the quality of the instruction and ease of use was far beyond my expectations of an online lesson plan.
Two of the features of Jamorama that made it the perfect online guitar course for us and convinced me to buy the program were the free trial and the money back guarantee. Jamorama offers you an introductory six part guitar course as a free trial, You just click on your ability level and you can download it instantly. However, it was the money back guarantee that sold me. You will get a complete 100% refund if you decide within 60 days that Jamorama is not for you. That gives you almost two months to test drive Jamorama.
The Jamorama course is comprehensive all-in-one program that claims it can take anyone from the total beginner level to being an advanced guitarist. I can see the improvement in my daughter's playing and would have to agree with this claim. Almost half of all students stop their guitar lessons within six months because they don't see the results they expected. It has been well over six months for us now, and we are ready to upgrade to a better guitar. I personally cannot say enough about Jamorama. It is my opinion, that Jamorama offers the best acoustic guitar lessons for kids OR adults that I have seen online or anywhere else.
When I first started using Jamorama, I never thought that I would look at it as an investment. However, after seing how much money I have saved and the improvement in my daughters guitar skills, I can't help but feel that this has been a very good investment.
So, if you are tired of spending too much money and want to achieve great online guitar course at the same time, visit my website and take a look at Jamorama. If your interests lie purely in how to learn acoustic guitar, Jamorama also has a program dedicated specifically to acoustic guitar instuction.

is it possible to learn to play the guitar to a really good standard in just 4 months with just a home course?
i want to be able to perform with a few friends but be a lead guitarist (electric 6 string). or what kind of level do you think is achievable in that short amount of time. i can only practice for about 4 hours a night.
or do you have any ideas or experiences as how i can achive this or any little trick you know to help me perform.
it doesn't really matter if you have a private guitar teacher or a home course. as long as you practice, you can become a pro. I started off with a guitar teacher just to learn the basics but after that, I was able to teach myself with a chord book and some internet websites. try to watch one of your favorite guitarists play. Just seeing their style might help you. If you want a good performance, when you are playing and you mess up, don't say that you messed up because most of the time, people don't notice.
