Where Can We Listen Live Big Band Jazz Music?
Jazz--A musical art form was originated in the African American communities in early 20th century. It is one of the most tantalizing and distinguished forms of music and has a unique American flair to it. It embraces all other forms like rock, hip-hop. But the irony is it has now become less popular than the latter ones. The big band- also known as the jazz band, jazz ensemble, dance band, stage orchestra is an ensemble associated with playing the Jazz music. The typical instruments used are Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano, Guitar etc.
Jazz is one of the most significant contributions to the music world. Still there are many people who value its worth and love listening to it. No matter how old it grows, this is something which is agile and will always persist in the hearts of its admirers. One reason that jazz remains popular and alive is its ability to adapt to the world it lives in and yet being able to maintain its originality and touch.
There are a host of options available for the Jazz music lovers. In Chicago, you can hear some great musicians playing Jazz on nearly every street corner. Kansas City, Boston and New Orleans have great Jazz clubs where there are splendid performances of the original big band Jazz music the magic of the renowned artists is recreated. The idea is to go back to the period to feel and relive that pleasant light and easy music. They are like a holy spot for those who are passionate about this music.
For the music lovers who do not want to leave their homes want to find an economical way to live their favorite Jazz music, here is a shortcut- The Radio. Tune into some great Jazz radio stations. It may not be as mesmerizing and scintillating as hearing them live in person but close your eyes, flow with the music and imagine yourself with your favorite artists at a concert. That is the best way to enjoy it and pretty reasonable too.

easy jazz piano?
I'm trying to learn jazz by ear but I'm finding it really difficult. I am awesome at transcribing the melody or solo lines. But whe it comes to the bass or chords I really struggle to pick any notes at all. What are some good piano based jazz albums which might be a little easier for me to transcribe by ear?
A number of "play along" recordings (see below) are available that are a lot of fun and are great way to learn easy jazz songs. You can listen and emulate the piano part, then turn down the piano part by adjusting the balance on your stereo and it's like you have your own pro combo in your living room. Have fun!

How to Learn to Play the Guitar - Basic Steps to Learning the Guitar Chords
Many people today, especially young ones are getting very interested in probably the most popular musical instrument today, which is the guitar. Although many are also intrigued and attracted to learning how to play the piano, the guitar is the musical instrument, which is next in line. As pointed out earlier, teenagers are the ones who are very adventurous when it comes to trying out new things. This is also the reason why this is the age group, which is participating more in learning how to play the guitar.
Usually, teenagers show their adventurous side when they do not stick with the traditional way of learning how to play the said instrument. Instead of finding their own personal instructors, or enrolling themselves in a music school, most of them just opt to get to know the instrument better on their own. And in doing so, they usually rely on resources such as books and several guitar chords.
As many people know, guitar chords are the essential resource that guitar players need, whether they are just beginners learning how to play the instrument, or they are beginners learning how to play a new song. One concern is that if the beginner does not know how to read these chords, aside from another concern which involves the person's inability to position his/her fingers on the guitar.
The truth is, if a person wants to learn how to interpret these guitar chords, he/she can just surf the Internet and search the basic mechanics. First of all, a beginner must be informed that not all guitars have the same number of strings but the most commonly used guitars have six strings. When the user is sure that he/she has the appropriate guitar chords for his/her guitar, then everything will then fall into place because it will be easier to learn how to interpret the chords.
When a beginner has finally found a guide to help him/her with regard to how he/she will play the instrument with the help of the chords, he/she will definitely be oriented with the necessary terms and concepts used in most guitar chords.
Examples of these terms and concepts are frets, chords, inverted chords, major chords, minor chords, and many different notes. Not only will these guides orient its users with the mentioned concepts but it will also teach the beginners how to read the actual chords. When they are already familiar with how these chords should be interpreted, the next thing that the guides will teach the beginners is how the notes and musical chords are going to be played on the actual instrument.
Of course, this part will be a little detailed since fingerings, positioning, strumming, and even plucking will be involved in this part of the tutorial.
Truly, these guitar chords are a great help whether amateurs or professionals use them. And the thing with learning through these chords is that the method by which you try to understand them does not really matter. The true important thing is the determination that a person has in trying to do so.

How can you learn to move your fingers to different chords on the guitar with no problems ?
I'm learning to play the guitar and it's hard for me to switch my fingers from one chord to the other. all the guitar books teach you the chords but they don't teach you how to switch from one chord to the other.
I know what you mean. It is hard the first time. How to learn? Practice, practice, and more practice. And you'll find the easy tricks, such as, when going from C to D7, you can leave your index finger totally where it is, and use it as a 'pivot' to move your other fingers.

Largest Free Blues Festival in the World Celebrates 25 Years
Chicago is home to many great festivals and events. One of its greatest is the Chicago Blues Festival, held in Grant Park each June. This year's festival is a landmark celebration for the 25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival. The largest free admission Blues festival in the world, the four-day festival offers the best in national, international and local Blues entertainment on six stages with more than 70 performances, preceded by a month of Blues activities, known as Blues Season, throughout Chicago.
In commemoration of the 25th Annual event, the festival will not only feature a quarter of a century of the blues festival highlights but also celebrate the centennials of Louis Jordan, Tommy McLennan, and Blind John Davis. Throughout its history, the festival has presented countless number of blues notes and moments to millions of blues fans from around the world on Chicago's popular lakefront park. Chicago Blues Festival honors and keeps alive an important part of the city's heritage. The city's first Blues festival in 1984 helped open the Chicago summer festival season and came a year after the death of Muddy Waters.
Through the years, the festival has celebrated many benchmarks and celebrated the men and women who lived their lives playing and singing the blues. Where else have blues fans been able to watch as Chuck Berry shared the stage with Keith Richards, did circle dances with Janie Hunter, or John Lee Hooker performed a "Boogie chillen'" solo for a crowd of hundreds.
The 25th Annual Blues Festival will deliver the same snapshot moments crowds have come to expect. Crowds will receive the royal treatment on Friday evening, June 6, with headliners Koko Taylor and her Blues Machine, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, and a special set honoring the past, featuring Ruby Andrews, Cicero Blake and Jackie Ross.
The Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor, is no stranger to Chicago, which she calls home. Known for her rough and powerful vocals, Taylor has recorded for Chess Records, and most recently with Alligator Records. She has won more than 25 W.C. Handy awards and performs more than 100 concerts annually. Her talent has influenced powerful female musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and Shemekia Copeland.
Eddy Clearwater is a versatile Chicago blues performer who has been nominated for and won several W.C. Handy awards. He is known for his stage performance as a showman, which includes his left-handed upside down guitar playing. On Friday evening, he will perform with the entire cast of his newly released CD, West Side Strut. The project features Billy Branch, Otis Clay, Jimmy Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, and band members of Ronnie Brooks (son of Lonnie Brooks), along with Eddy's band mates. Chicago Blues Festival fans will be fortunate to see these greats playing together on one stage at the Petrillo Music Shell for one memorable night.
On Sunday evening, June 8, Chicago is in for a royal treatment with an appearance by Blues legend, B.B. King. The festival's final night will be majestic with headliners that also include Little Willie Littlefield, Bobby Parker, and Karen Carroll with Charlie Love and special guest Lurrie Bell. Known as the King of Blues, B.B. King has graced the stages worldwide, and at age 82, he continues to tour as often as he did in his youth. King last played at the festival in 1988. With one of the most identifiable styles in the music business, King has influenced a myriad of talented musicians, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and George Harrison.
The Chicago Blues Festival has grown tremendously in its 25 years and now features more than one hundred performances on seven stages and extended hours of 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Chicago Blues Festival is known world-wide as one of the biggest and best Blues events on the planet, drawing hundreds of thousands of people from around the world to Grant Park, year after year.

How Long Does It Take To Play Guitar?
Learning to play guitar is a process, and there is no finish line. How long does it take to play guitar, is a question students often ask their teacher. How long it takes to play the guitar depends on what your definition of guitar playing is!
The last few decades has seen a remarkable growth in the popularity of rock music and guitar playing has become pretty attractive for many.
Today the guitar is everywhere; a versatile instrument - adapting itself to almost any kind of situation, Victimized by it's own success, it has become something more than a musical instrument - like the swastika before it, it has become the symbol of a social revolution! The ultimate emblem of grooviness! It is now an object unto itself!
Guitar enthusiasts are so often blinded by the symbol that they remain deaf to the world of musical wonders that lie beyond their blinkered six-string field of interest.
Many teenagers exist who aspire to become rock superstars, but there is also a section who wants to learn guitar playing just for sake of it. But many of them end up losing hope of learning guitar since they don't find the best way to learn guitar.
How long does it take to play guitar? If you can answer the following questions and make these important distinctions you will have a good idea.
QUESTION ONE: How do you view the instrument?
Do you want to be (a) guitar owner, (b) guitar player, (c) a musician who uses the guitar for musical expression?
Essentially there's three levels of involvement with the guitar:
1. Guitar owners - to qualify you need only to have enough funds to purchase the instrument, for these people the guitar is simply a toy, like a computer game, or fashion accessory. How long does it take you to play the guitar if you're in this category? About 5-10 minutes max. The important thing here is to "be seen to be playing the guitar"!
2. Guitar players - players in this category are often very dedicated and speed many hours practicing their instrument. Mostly self taught, they learn almost exclusively from guitar tab, and their friends. How long does it take to play guitar in this category?... these players understand it's a lifetime journey.
3. Musicians who play guitar as their chosen instrument- players in category two focus on guitar playing skills, whereas level three players understand the whole scope of the musical landscape. A good musician not only plays their instrument well, they understand and can intelligently discuss all music.
These players:
(a) listen to all types of music
(b) read about all types of music
(c) study all types of music
How long does it take to play guitar in this category? Again, it's a lifetime of hard work and discipline. What's the difference between category two and category three?
Level two players must have their instrument in their hands to communicate ideas, whereas, musicians who play guitar as their chosen instrument know and can discuss, the qualities which make Herb Ellis or Barney Kessel a great jazz player; why Duke Ellington is a jazz innovator; Michel Legrand a great composer and orchestrator. They know why good symphonies are good and bad symphonies are bad; they know why good pop or country songs are good (musically) and bad songs are bad.
QUESTION TWO: Are you internally motivated or externally motivated?
Externally motivated players usually give up playing the guitar once they realize that they are responsible for their progress. these players quickly move on to the new 'hip' fad (only to give up on that as soon as things get a bit challenging).
An obvious example of this type of externally motivated player and their associated problems and disappointments is with the recent popularity of computer games where people pretend to play the guitar.
Despite PR claims from computer game companies like Guitar Hero that their guitar games improve the player's rhythm and hand dexterity, professional guitar teachers worldwide have reported that Guitar Hero veterans have been disappointed when confronted with the real-world requirements of hard work and delayed gratification. They expect to jump into real guitar and learn it as quickly as they learned the game, and they realize that they can't.
I'll assume if you have read this far you're more interested in category two or three!
needless to say that only internally motivated players make it into category two and three.
QUESTION THREE: What is the source of your information? common knowledge or specialized knowledge?
Today it is not a question of information on any particular subject, after all we live in the information age, don't we? To accelerate your progress on the guitar and rapidly decrease the time it takes you to play the guitar, what we need is specialized knowledge to help us assemble the relevant knowledge to achieve our goals.
The first thing to understand is that learning guitar is something that takes a long time. how long it takes to learn depends on what you want to learn.
Learning guitar is hard work but it's really important to have fun and have your guitar make cool sounds while you're learning all the hard bits. The main thing you have to consider when learning how to play guitar is who is teaching you how to play guitar.
How long does it take to play guitar? It depends on what you want to achieve.
I can teach you quickly, see below.
