If you are talking in terms of difficulty of actually playing the instrument, bass is a great deal harder because of how big it is. Very few people can play a bass quickly compared to the amount that can shred up and down the neck of a guitar. Basses are rarely required to play ridiculously fast, though, because that would not be useful to the song unless it is during a solo or fill or if you are playing a genre like technical death metal.

I am reading the book Stairway To Heaven Led Zeppelin Uncensored. As you may have guessed, it's about Led Zeppelin. It says they played their first American gig in Denver, but doesn't say specifically. Does anyone know?

Playing leads and guitar solos is definitely something that requires hours of practice and consistency. Most lead players practice on the instrument they usually play solos on and that's an electric guitar. This only makes sense. But as with most things in life, you hit sticking points and plateaus. It could be that you can't seem to play any faster, an issue with accuracy and clarity, or maybe you're in a creative rut. Sometimes you need a different method to break through. That breakthrough for me is practicing solo patterns on acoustic rather than electric.
Of course I'll practice on both, but in my early years of playing I've always practiced solos strictly on electric because that has been my main instrument, being a lead guitar player and playing rock and metal. I play leads on acoustic as well when performing but as you know it's a different world on acoustic when it comes to soloing.
The first thing I noticed when I started actually practicing acoustic leads, running through patterns, scales, and so forth is that my fingers were strengthened. When I play electric afterwards, I'm able to rip through solos effortlessly. Another noteworthy element is more clarity in my leads. Playing acoustic takes a lot more effort and you're forced to hit the notes with accuracy, otherwise it will sound messy. Along the lines of strength I also noticed that my hands don't tire as quickly. Those of you who work with computers daily know what I'm talking about; typing on a keyboard for the majority of the day then coming home to play guitar certainly does a number on your hands. Practicing on acoustic has noticeably helped with endurance.
A couple of exercises and patterns that are good to start out with on acoustic are listed below. Accuracy should always be the first priority then you can slowly build up speed. Another great thing about practicing on acoustic is that it's always readily available whereas electric you have to setup and plug in. However, I encourage to practice on both as there's a certain feel and technique for playing electric solos that you don't want to lose.
Pattern 1:
3rd String: 4th fret - 5th fret - 7th fret
4th String: 4th fret - 5th fret - 7th fret - 5th fret - 4th fret
3rd String: 7th fret - 5th fret
Pattern 2:
6th String: 10th fret - 8th fret - 7th fret
5th String: 10th fret
6th String: 7th fret
5th String: 10th fret - 8th fret - 7th fret - 10th fret - 8th fret - 7th fret
4th String: 9th fret - 7th fret then slide up to 9th fret

When building a guitar, do you have to use one set of pickups?
I'm thinking about building a guitar from scratch. I was going to buy some Peavey Wolfgang pickups, but I don't want to put both of them in, I want to reserve the other spot for a single, or some other humbucker. Basically my question is:
If you buy the Peavey Wolfgang pickups, and two of them come, can you only put one in and use the other spot for some other pickup?
Sure. Thats the beauty of building your own guitar. The other pickup that you would add would give your guitar a whole other sound. Good luck

Is pre-pack liquidation a better option than critics would have us believe?
Is pre-pack liquidation a better option than critics would have us believe?
Pre Pack liquidation or Phoenixing has become the subject of much debate over the past 12 months. A pre pack liquidation is the process by which the assets of a failing company to be sold to a new business (often owned by the directors of the old company). The new business then begins to trade in place of the old without the burden of historic debts. The old company is generally closed (or liquidated) leaving unsecured creditors with little or no return.
Much criticism has been aimed at this area of company insolvency particularly by those representing unsecured creditors. They argue that the pre pack process is being used to leave creditors high and dry with no hope of recovering what they are owed.
It is also suggested that there is not enough transparency in the process of the sale of assets within a pre pack. During the process, assets are valued and sold without any opportunity for unsecured creditors to intervene. As such, the best price for assets may not be realised and creditors are again left carrying the can. In other words, pre packs are simply being used to avoid paying unsecured creditors.
It is my view that these arguments against the pre pack process are fundamentally flawed. The main reason for this is that it is not the pre pack that causes a company to fail. The only time that pre pack liquidation is considered is where a company is insolvent. In this situation by definition there is not enough money to go around. As such, the likelihood is that the business will be closed, any assets realised and ultimately many unsecured creditors will receive little or no payment.
It is fair to say that the primary idea behind the pre pack process is to ensure the survival of a viable business thus preserving jobs and future trading opportunities. This is not the only aim, the process was also designed with the increased protection of unsecured creditors in mind. A pre pack focuses on achieving the maximum sale value of a failing company's assets which maximises the potential dividend distribution to creditors.
The fundamental question is:
Can the pre pack process really deliver a better outcome for creditors than might otherwise be the case in a simple liquidation or company administration?
The answer I believe is that pre packs are the best way of extracting value from distressed businesses.
So why do I believe this?
In a pre pack, the old business' assets are generally valued as a going concern and therefore are seen as far more valuable than they would be in a traditional fire sale during a liquidation. For example in a "people business" where assets would evaporate in a formal insolvency, they remain together in a pre pack and can be sold as a valuable whole. The point is that pre packs enhance the value preservation of a failing company by minimising the period of business disruption. In almost every case, if the company was simply liquidated or put into administration, the value of the enterprise is damaged beyond repair, ultimately reducing the amount available for unsecured creditors.
It is important to highlight that insolvency practitioners are bound to extract the highest value for creditors from the pre pack process. Statement of Insolvency Practice 16 (SIP 16) outlines the insolvency practitioner's duty to take steps to ensure that the pre pack sale of company assets can be justified and is the right action in the circumstances. A recent insolvency service report indicates that only 3% of cases the conduct of the IP did not meet this guidance.
It is my belief that far from disadvantaging unsecured creditors, pre packs maximise any value left in a business which is doomed to failure. The process generates maximum value in the old business assets. Often overlooked is the fact that even if the distribution to creditors is little or nothing, the pre pack process generates an ongoing business, preserving employment and a future trading partner. Ultimately, companies are worth more alive than dead.

Why are so many people against Marijuana?

How to make your make up look natural?
I just got a job at a store which demands that you have no make up on and if you do it has to inhance your natural features.
What are some make up tips/ways i could have VERY natural make up, but still improve my image.
Simply stick the basics. I would avoid all but skin-tone eyeshadow (while that sounds strange, it's a major staple in my makeup bag. It makes my eyes look even bluer and makes my eyelids more evenly colored).
Mascara seems like it would still be only, but try applying it simply to the ends of your lashes to give them color but not make the clump.
Eyeliner is a good choice, but keep it very subtle. In fact, you may want to try simply doing your upper lids to give your eyelash line a little more thickness and just skip lower lid lining all-together.
You could experiment with lipgloss rather than lipstick. Rather than putting color on your lips, just enhance their natural color and give them a little shine.
And last but not least! Just use cover up and a loose powder to set it. I'm a huge fan of the covergirl cover-up sticks (they look like lipstick but are skin tones) and Bare Minerals to go over it.
