Memphis Blues Music Remains a Time Honored Genre
Memphis Blues music first appeared in the 1920s in Memphis, and Memphis ever since has been a Mecca for Blues music lovers worldwide. Beale Street, the heart of Memphis music scene, is home to everything from jug bands to jazz.
The sub genre of Memphis Blues music that is Jug Band Blues emphasizes syncopated rhythms and sounds of early jazz and folk songs. Jug bands play on homemade, simple instruments, such as harmonicas, banjos, washboards, and kazoos, and of course, jugs.
After WWII, Memphis Blues music saw the birth of electric instruments. Many musicians flocked to Memphis to the Blues scene with these electric instruments, changing the sound of Memphis blues. The musicians would gather on Beale Street, where there were recording studios up and down. West Memphis saw the same influx of musicians, who would record the most famous and renowned classic blues, rhythm and blues, and rock & roll records. Once of the most famous of these studios was Sun Records, who would also record the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, among many others.
The beginning of Memphis self expressive music was attributed by a certain sound that became familiar to the colored workers of the cornfields, the sharecroppers. Much of the early Memphis blues music was an attempt to capture the sound of the singing workers. This sound at first was nicknamed the gutbucket blues. Some of the more popular topics of the songs were those of prayer, faith, and life.
Even today on Beale Street, songs are written and recorded in the small studios by artists with their dreams in tow. The streets in Memphis are just as alive today with the Memphis Blues as they were in the 40s and 50s. The clubs and bars in Memphis fill up every night with tourists and people who sit for hours listening to the artists and their music, much the same way they always have.
With all of the new and ever changing genres of music that have come about, people may wonder what gives the Memphis Blues music such staying power. The answer is simple. The Memphis Blues remains such a huge part of tradition in Memphis because it is more than just music. It is an entire culture and lifestyle that gets passed from one generation to the next.
Ever since the Memphis Blues music was born on the curbs of Beale Street, people have been flocking to Memphis to enjoy it ever since. Chances are pretty good that it will continue to be enjoyed and loved for many more generations to come.

What company makes the best harmonica for playing the blues?
I don't want to spend a ton, but I am willing to make this somewhat of an investment. I'd rather buy something I can "grow into" than just buy a cheapo one and need to buy another down the road. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hohner,
The Hohner Marineband harps are one of the most popular for blues if not the most popular. Hohner's Blues Harp MS are good also. Big River harps made by Hohner have plastic combs and are less expensive so make a good choice for beginners.
Some use Lee Oskar harmonica's. There are some custom harp makers but these harps are much more expensive.

Types Of Guitar: Electric, Acoustic And Classical
A guitar, which is a hollow-bodied stringed instrument with a neck, produces sound when the strings' vibrations resonate through its body.
There are three basic types of guitar: the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar, and the classical guitar.
The electric guitar converts the sound of the vibrating strings into electronic current. These electronic signals are then altered and produce the desired pitch and vibration before they are fed to amplifiers. Because an electric guitar uses these "pickups," the body does not need to be resonant as it does with the other types of guitar. An electric guitar is used for all different kinds of music, such as country, pop, jazz, rock and roll, and heavy metal.
The acoustic guitar is shaped much like the classical guitar (described below) in terms of its appearance and shape. This type of guitar does not use amplifiers for its sound traditionally, although they can be added. An acoustic guitar uses steel strings for a louder and brighter sound than the nylon strings of the classical guitar. The acoustic guitar also uses heavier woods than does the classical guitar, including maple, mahogany, and spruce. This is because the steel strings on the acoustic guitar produce more tension than the nylon strings of the classical guitar do. This type of guitar is usually used in country, folk and blues music. It can also be used in different types of rock music. Oftentimes, acoustic guitars can also have built-in electronics so that their sound can be amplified louder than they would have been traditionally.
Finally, the classical guitar is also known as the "Spanish guitar." It's the most common of the three types of guitar. Its body is hollow, as with the acoustic guitar. The hole in the center acts to resonate the sound produced by the strings when they are plucked and strummed. It uses six strings, which are usually made of nylon. They are less taut than are the steel strings of the acoustic guitar. Usually, this type of guitar is played without amplifiers. The sound can be "amplified" simply, however, by just placing the guitar in front of a microphone. The classical guitar is usually used in Latin, flamenco and classical music.
All three types of guitars (classical, acoustic and electric) can be used by one person alone or by playing with other guitar players. However, electric guitars are much louder than classical or acoustic guitars, and are generally not mixed with acoustic or classical guitars. However, it's often true that rock bands, for example, play electric guitars with accompaniment such as drums, trumpets or other louder instrumentation that can't be easily overpowered by the electric guitar's volume.

Perfect Ear Training
Perfect Ear Training

Become a better musician through ear training
If you have any intention of becoming a better musician then at some point you will need to focus on ear training in order be able to judge relative pitch and eventually perfect pitch. It's strange that so little attention is paid to ear training when it is obvious that how we listen to music is the most important aspect of playing music.
There are many different ways you can train your ear. You can learn to recognize different pitches and achieve so called perfect pitch or you can learn to recognize different intervals and harmony. Once you've trained your ears you'll start noticing the benefits in a number of ways. You'll be able to write better songs, transcribe songs by ear and learn songs much quicker. There are many different kinds of exercises you can do to improve your ear and in the rest of this article you'll be given some introductory exercises.
A good exercise to start with is an interval recognition exercise. Write down a list of all the interval names from Minor 2nd all the way to an Octave. Then look up examples of those intervals in popular pieces of music. For example the Minor 2nd interval is the same as the the famous theme from the film Jaws. Now randomly choose different intervals and sing or hum the two notes that make up the interval. This will train your ear to recognize the interval. Recognizing intervals is one of the most important skills you can have as a musician.
Another great exercise is a chord recognition exercise. Write out a number of chords that you'd like to recognize. For example Major, Minor, 7th and sus4 chords. Then play them in random order and see if you can tell how they sound differently. Start listening to some of your favorite music and see if you can hear any of those chords being used.
A good way to make the most of these exercises is by making a recording of random intervals and chords so that you can test yourself. Another way is to practice with a friend so that you can keep challenging each other.
There are many more ear training exercises you can do in order to help yourself recognize intervals, chords, harmony and different pitches. If you have trouble coming up with your own exercises or want want help and guidance to make sure that you are learning all that is necessary in order to become a better musician then check out the Pitch Master Pro

Perfect pitch?
I was wondering if the David Lucas Burge Ear Training Supercourse actually works in developing perfect pitch. If so I was thinking to try it for myself. So, does it work?
That stuff that's in magazines? I think it's crap...But I've never tried it. I came across perfect pitch without even learning...It's just a natural born talent i have i guess... All my friends and anyone i meet are jealous and amazed how i can hear something and play it on an instrument immediately note for note.

Effective Music Teachers Resources And Tips: Students’ Feedback
Primarily, a music teacher’s task lies in the idea of effective and creative communication. Thus, credibility and reliability have always been an issue to academic institutions, their teaching and non-teaching personnel and even the student body.
Music teachers simultaneously motivate, inspire, and support their students through innovative music teachers resources. Whether these resources and tips are from the experiences of other teaching individuals, educators, academes or from the internet, what important is you are able to meet your goals and stay committed to your purpose.
When you make use of effective music teachers resources and tips, you are more likely to gain the interests of your students – encouraging them to love music more. As you become good influences and examples to them, they not just tend to love music as one of their subjects but they also have come to love you as their mentors and icons.
I have here a list of different feedbacks, compliments and even suggestions of the students when a group of music educators have rendered effective music teaching strategies and have executed creative activities.
• The students are able to cultivate their interest in music and realize their potentials through unique and creative activities regarding their music class and its programs.
• Such music teachers resources allow them to learn about other aspects of music which are not covered in a specific course outline, syllabus or private music lessons.
• Music teachers are able to encourage and give them such opportunity and exposure that they truly need to create and perform music creatively and independently yet effectively and promptly.
• Students are able to learn music as well as the significance of academic freedom and independence. Thus, cooperative learning has played a vital role in this manner since they are tasked to work collaboratively with their co-students and meet a common set of objectives.
• Creative activities, which seem unusual and innovative, have brought up fun and excitement among students – making them more interested, hooked and eager to learn new things and eventually apply them in real life.
• The enhanced program for music teaching has been remarked by the students as a way to boost self-confidence, establish camaraderie among classmates, and experience the fun of learning music – all at the same time.
• Such exposure to music technology and other relevant innovations have showcased more talents and have brought out the best in most of the students.
It really pays to regenerate more teaching resources and strategies that are more appealing to the kind of students we have in today’s generation. Maximizing resources and efforts, music teachers would then realize that music education could be the most rewarding experience.
